masterhandss:

The thought of Geordo/Gerald being so helplessly in love with Katarina that he is willing to both fight tooth and nail against his two older brothers for the title of king by perfecting his craft as a royal while also being perfectly willing to throw away his claim to the throne and title as prince away if she wishes/needed, just for his beloved fiancee keeps me up at night to be honest.

Oh god you triggered me, let me add some canon appreciable thoughts that will keep you up at night thinking. (trying to be as less spoiley as possible)

Gerald worries greatly about how Katarina views him in her head and don’t want to harm or dishonour her in any way. That made him scared to face her at some point because of smth he did out of his feelings. If she ever came to view him in a slightly negative way, he calls it “ greatest punishment he deserves” so he tries to become better for her.

Gerald is very open to the idea of becoming a farmer. Like if Katarina told him right there right now to throw everything and live a commoner life on the side of the kingdom he will be the happiest man alive.

Gerald never felt anything before. This is mainly why he doesn’t know how to react sometimes. Katarina gave him so many new feelings he’s still learning how to deal with. Also, that’s why mainly he goes with the “ Katarina’s my fiancee” when going jealous of the others as he just doesn’t know any other ways to deal with it. It’s actually cute if you think about it.

Same as Ian, he wants to first to get officially married before doing anything. Or as he said it, that’s only when he can call her finally “his”. He went out of his way to whisper love words in her ears because knowing Katarina if he doesn’t do it she will stay dense and nothing will change. He even had to kiss her multiple times during the series so she gets to realize his feelings. He was terrified that she would be taken if he was as laid back as he was.

EVEN after all this, Katarina up to volume 9 believes he’s joking and keep on believing the “Love changes people” thing. I have no comment.

Gerald said, “A person who has loneliness or pity in their heart seems to be particularly attracted to her straight temper."  EVEN when she was serving in an undercover investigation into the kidnapping of a Baron Lady, she was harassed by male customers because of her friendly service, but she was not aware of the situation at all. Gerald is basically screaming inside.

We all know Gerald loves the free unpredictable Katarina so he will never chain her down but still maybe he have to before she charms the whole kingdom.

Even after she joined the ministery of magic. the money required for the field work is paid from her pocket money and she’s “actually broken”. Gerald make sure to give seedlings and fertilizer as birthday presents or whenever she needs so she dont need to spend money on it. He tries to take care of her in his own way.

Gerald consider himself as a bad stupid naive person but he wants to change to become better and worthy for Katarina. Just having Katarina accepting the real weak him at his side is all what he needs.

Whenever Katarina does anything back to him, the usually collected perfect calm prince who’s the one to attack with love words blushes cutely at it and tries to hide it away unintentionally.

Volume 8 accident when Katarina was thought to be kidnapped, raped and injured just shows how much Gerald values out of all the other characters Katarina it hurts.

A little spoiler: The weakness of Gerald is that he is descended from the former king, who is a womanizer and has a large number of concubines around him, leading to flesh and blood feuds. As a result, the way his father made to become the king is filled with blood. He’s greatly heavied and worried by this fact and is afraid on Katarina and from her thoughts. He wanted to share his full past when at least their wedding is decided but as soon as she found out about this she accepted everything with a smile and he became all emotional and blushy.

Gerald is a bless, I can talk about him forever.
